(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) - Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police investigating a fraud occurrence in Middlesex Centre.
On August 13, 2025, at 2:51 pm, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a fraud.
Investigation revealed the victim received an unsolicited phone call indicating their credit card had been compromised.
In an effort to better assist the victim, the suspect attended the residence and proceeded to obtain banking and cell phone information as well as passwords.
The suspect, a younger looking black male wearing a suit, fled the area driving a small grey car.
Shortly after, multiple purchases were made, totalling approximately $10,000.
The investigation is continuing.
Fraud is a multi-billion dollar per year business and modern, tech savvy, fraudsters will do their best to create confusion and chaos during interactions, leading victims to react impulsively and hand over their money.
It is imperative to verify any unsolicited requests before you respond or provide personal information. If you feel pressured, hang up the phone or delete the sender’s profile and do not let unknown individuals into your residence.
