64KM/H OVER THE SPEED LIMIT PLUS IMPAIRED DRIVING RELATED CHARGES HAS NO PLACE ON DUFFERIN COUNTY ROADS
(DUFFERIN COUNTY) - Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Brampton resident with stunt driving plus impaired driving-related offences following a traffic stop for speeding.
On July 29, 2025, just after 10:00 pm, Dufferin OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 89 in the Town of Mono when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop and after speaking with the male driver, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.
Firas GEORGES, a 44-year-old male, from Brampton has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
- Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed
The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.
