ALPR ALERT LEADS TO RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has recovered a stolen vehicle in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.

On October 16, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm, an officer patrolling County Road 45 in the Municipality of Trent Hills, received an alert from the in-car Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system regarding a vehicle travelling southbound and believed to be stolen.

The driver left the roadway, driving into a field behind a residence, and then fled on foot. The vehicle, a pickup truck, was confirmed stolen from Belleville. As a result, there was an increased police presence in the area, and the Canine Unit (K9) was deployed to assist with the search.

No individuals were located, and the investigation remains ongoing.
