(HOLSTEIN, ON) - Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a local individual in connection with a series of incidents involving arson, assault, and property damage at a housing complex in Holstein.

On October 31, 2025, at approximately 10:38 am, OPP officers responded to a call from Dundalk Fire Services regarding a suspected arson at a housing complex on Grey Road 109 in Holstein, ON. Information received indicated that the individual was still on scene and allegedly in possession of a knife. Due to safety concerns, emergency responders sheltered in place and the complex was placed under lockdown until police arrived.

Police determined that the individual, a tenant at the residence, had allegedly attempted to gain access to another apartment before setting fire to a bag causing property damage. Shortly thereafter, a physical altercation reportedly occurred between the individual and another individual at the complex. The individual then allegedly used an edged weapon to damage property, including a window screen and a vehicle parked on site.

Police located and arrested the individual at the scene without incident.

Jaret PRICE 32-years-old from Holstein, was charged with the following criminal code offences:

  • Assault
  • Arson - Damage to Property
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Mischief Under $5000 (2 Counts)

The accused was held for a bail hearing on November 1, 2025, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound and was released on a court-issued release order.
