(PERTH, ON) - Police have arrested one individual following an assault in the Municipality of West Perth.

On November 1, 2025 The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an assault investigation after a victim attended the Mitchell OPP detachment with a head injury.

The victim was transported to a local trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 am on Wellington St near the tennis courts in the town of Mitchell.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged 45-year-old Gary Hamberg of West Perth with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Uttering Threats (two counts)
• Assault Causing Bodily Harm
• Theft Under $5,000
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was arrested on November 13, 2025 and was remanded into custody following an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on the same date. The accused next scheduled court appearance is on November 14, 2025.
