BELLEVILLE RESIDENT CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

(BANCROFT, ON) - The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following a disturbance.

On Monday, August 25, 2025, shortly after 8:30 am, officers responded to a report of someone brandishing a knife in the Town of Bancroft. One person was arrested a short time later.

As a result Ryan ALEXANDER, 33, from Belleville has been charged with the following:

• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose - 2 counts
• Assault with a weapon - 2 counts
• Fail to comply with a probation order - 2 counts

The accused was held for bail and remanded into custody. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bellville on August 28, 2025.
