(HALDIMAND COUNTY) - A citizen assisted police affect an arrest in Caledonia.

On December 8, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service involving an individual possibly breaching a court order in Caledonia.

The accused was located a short time later and it was determined that they were failing to comply with a release order.

While affecting an arrest, the individual resisted the officer, and a bystander quickly rendered assistance.

An 18-year-old from Caledonia has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (three counts)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on December 10, 2025.
