(PERTH, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers began an investigation on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

As a result of investigation, a 49-year-old male from Embrum has been charged with:

• Assault
• Assault cause bodily harm- choke, suffocate or strangle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth in October.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
