(PERTH, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers began an investigation on Sunday, January 4, 2026, just after 7:30 am in the Town of Perth. Prior to police arrival the male had fled the residence on foot. Officers with the assistance of an OPP Canine unit and Emergency Response Team members located and arrested the male a short time later.

As a result of investigation, a 34-year-old male from Perth has been charged with:

  • Assault cause bodily harm
  • Uttering threats - two counts
  • Mischief
  • Assault
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Cruelty to animals

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on a later date.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
