(BECKWITH TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers investigated incidents reported in the Carleton Place, Beckwith and Montague Township areas between March 9, 2025, and June 1, 2025. This has resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man from Smiths Falls.

The individual has been charged with:

• Obstruct Peace Officer- two counts
• Take motor vehicle without consent
• Assault - three counts
• Mischief under $5000
• Drive under suspension - four counts
• Stunt driving

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, June 2, 2025.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
