(PERTH, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers investigated a weapons complaint in Perth on Sunday, July 6, 2025, just after 3:00 am Officers attended a residence, and located a male with an axe. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old man.

The male has been charged with:

• Assault with a weapon
• Uttering threats
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Unlawfully in a dwelling

The accused was held custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, July 7, 2025.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
