CHARGES LAID IN SIMCOE COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY INVESTIGATION


(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - An individual has been charged following a counterfeit currency investigation in Simcoe.

On Monday, October 27, 2025, at approximately 3:59 pm, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an incident involving counterfeit money at a business on Robinson Street in Simcoe.

The investigation determined that a person entered the establishment and attempted to exchange a counterfeit bill for cash. After a brief interaction with an employee, the suspect left the scene on foot.

Officers located the individual a short distance away, near the intersection of Stanley Street and Kent Street, and took them into custody without incident.

As a result, 29-year-old Joseph FISCHER of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Uttering counterfeit money - utter, - Use, deals, acts on forged document, - Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
