(LANARK HIGHLANDS TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a weapons investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers responded to an incident in Lanark Village on Saturday, July 5, 2025, just after 6:30 pm after a complaint was received about an individual making threats. The male fled prior to police arriving however the individual was located and arrested nearby.

As a result of the investigation Mark PORTER, 56-years-old from Lanark Highlands, has been charged with:

• Possession of Schedule I substance - cocaine
• Pointing a firearm
• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
• Assault with a weapon

The accused was held for a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday July 7, 2025.
