(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON)- The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz resulting in multiple charges.
On Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26, 2025, the East Algoma OPP, Sudbury OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, MNRF, and MTO conducted vehicle inspections at the MTO Spragge scales on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore.
Officers conducted 165 vehicle checks, resulting in the following:
- Nine (9) Level I Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections
- Two (2) Level II Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections
- Six (6) vehicles placed “Out of Service,” with one having its plate removed
- 46 Provincial Offence Notices issued between the services
- Two (2) Part III summonses issued
- 26 various warnings issued
- MNRF Conservation Officers conducted harvested big game checks to ensure hunters possessed valid documentation, including an Outdoors Card, appropriate licences and tags, and that firearms and harvested animal information were properly documented and labeled in accordance with provincial regulations
