COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE CHARGED FOR STUNT DRIVING

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - Traffic stop in North Wellington results in several charges for a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

On November 8, 2025, at approximately 1:30 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative and observed a commercial motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Wellington Road 109 in the Township of Wellington North.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old from Brampton is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
  • Speeding - 135km/hr in a posted 80km/hr zone
  • Fail to accurately complete Daily Inspection Report

Additionally, a business associated to the traffic stop is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Fail to ensure performance standards are met
  • Fail to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly

All accused involved are scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.

Anyone charged with ‘drive motor vehicle - perform stunt’ receives a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

CMVs can weigh more than 60,000 kg. (132,277 lbs). When combined with speeds ranging from 80 to 105 km/h, these vehicles generate significant momentum and energy, giving them the potential to cause extensive loss of life, injuries and property damage. The OPP recognizes that there are many safe, responsible CMV drivers who contribute to safe roads in Ontario.
