COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE INITIVE RESULTS IN 33 CHARGES


(COLLINGWOOD, ON) - On September 10, 2025 members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted by Huronia West OPP, OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and Ministry of Transportation partnered to conduct commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspections in Collingwood. Officers laid 33 charges because of this initiative.

Yesterday’s CMV initiative was focused on larger commercial vehicles operating on roadways to ensure that they were mechanically safe and being operated in compliance with traffic laws. Results of the initiative are as follows:

  • 33 CMV’s were inspected
  • 33 Mandatory Alcohol Screening checks were conducted resulting in 1 Warn Range Suspension
  • 11 CMV’s were taken out of service
  • 11 Highway Traffic Act charges were laid, including improper brakes, improper licence, overweight, & document offences
