(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) - A young hockey fan’s bravery and resilience inspired a heartfelt moment of kindness and connection at the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On October 2, 2025, 10-year-old Kaleb was involved in a serious motor vehicle collision while riding his bicycle home from school. Thanks to his helmet and the swift, professional response of emergency services, Kaleb’s injuries-though significant-did not result in any lasting effects. His recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.

During a follow-up visit with Kaleb and his family, officers learned that he is a passionate fan of the Winnipeg Jets. Demonstrating the OPP’s commitment to compassion, service excellence, and community engagement, members of D Platoon worked together to arrange a special surprise. Through a personal connection to the team, they secured a signed jersey from Kaleb’s favourite players.

On November 8, 2025, Kaleb and his parents, were welcomed to the Nottawasaga Detachment for a behind-the-scenes tour. Kaleb explored a police cruiser, visited the cell block, and shared laughs with officers throughout the visit. The highlight came when D Platoon presented him with the signed jersey, his face lit up with joy and disbelief.

Kaleb and his family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the officers for their compassion, integrity, and continued support throughout his recovery. The experience was a powerful reminder of the impact that small acts of kindness can have on a young life.
