(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON)  - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals following a report from a concerned member of the public.

On August 19, 2025, at approximately 7:00 am, officers responded to a report of two individuals observed slumped over inside a vehicle on a commercial property on Elizabeth Street.

Upon arrival, officers conducted inquiries and determined that one individual was wanted by a neighboring police service. That person was taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately:

• 55 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
• 65 grams of suspected Cocaine
• 30 grams of suspected Fentanyl

As a result, Jennifer BLACK (51) of Port Perry, has been charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance - other drugs

Jason SZAKASI, 44, of the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance - Methamphetamine
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
• Obstruct peace officer
• Failure to comply with undertaking
• Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution, or obstruct justice

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.
