CRIMINAL DRIVING CHARGE LAID IN RIDE CHECK

(GODERICH, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kincardine resident with a criminal driving offence following a traffic stop in a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checkpoint in the Town of Goderich on November 24, 2025. 

Just after 11:00 pm on Monday, November 24, 2025, Huron County OPP officers checked a driver that entered the RIDE program. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and later refused to provide a breath sample as required by law. The accused was charged as follows:

Shayne SPEAKMAN, 36 years-of-age from Kincardine has been charged with:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The driver was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich on January 05, 2026.
