(PERTH EAST, ON) - One individual has been charged with drug related offences following a traffic stop in the Township of Perth East.

On August 25, 2025 shortly after 8:00 pm the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop an e-bike on Perth Road 131 for a traffic violation. The driver then fled from police on foot but was apprehended.

Upon arrest and search of the individual police seized suspected cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as other drug paraphernalia.

34-year-old Jessica WARD of the Township of Perth East has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking Contrary to the Controlled drugs and Substances Act (Three Counts)
  • Fail to Wear Proper Helmet on Power-Assisted Bicycle Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to Stop for Police Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on October 10, 2025 to answer to her charges. She was released from OPP custody and transferred to a municipal police service for a warrant in an unrelated incident.
