(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) - A young person is facing charges after officers were assaulted responding to a disturbance.
On June 8, 2025, at 11:27 pm, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police were dispatched to an address on Smith Road, in Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation for the report of a disturbance.
While being escorted from the property, an individual assaulted two officers, at which time the individual was placed under arrest.
There were no injuries reported.
As a result, a 16-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault a Peace Officer (two counts)
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on a future date.
The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
