DRIVER ARRESTED CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AFTER SPEEDING AND STUNT DRIVING
(ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual with impaired driving, speeding and stunt driving following a traffic stop.
On Friday January 9, 2026, shortly before 10:00 pm, an officer of the Nottawasaga OPP, while conducting traffic enforcement, observed a motor vehicle travelling more than 70 km an hour over the speed limit on County Road 10. A traffic stop was initiated a short time later and signs of impairment were observed.
As a result of the investigation, officers arrested the driver for impaired driving.
The driver, Travis DOPHEIDE, a 34-year-old, of Barrie, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed
- Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
The accused party was released on a Form 10 Undertaking, received a 90 day licence suspension, and had their vehicle impounded.
