(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - One person is facing charges after a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 6.
On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 7:15 pm, an officer of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. A driver was observed travelling 122 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone, and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon interacting with the driver, police observed open alcohol within the vehicle. As a result of further investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, Randall ATLOOKAN, 21-years-old from Little Current, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Speeding 1-49 km/hr over posted limit
- Careless driving
- Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Class G1 licence holder - accompanying driver B.A.C.05 or above
- Being intoxicated in public place
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on October 7, 2025.
