(ESSA, ON) - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual with impaired driving following a fail to remain collision in Essa Township

On July 28, 2025, at approximately 3:30 pm, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on 11th Line, north of Side Road 20 in Essa Township. One of the involved individuals fled the scene on foot into a nearby field.

The OPP Canine Unit was deployed, and the suspect was located shortly before 7:00 pm Grounds were formed that the individual’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, resulting in their arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Cassie WILTSHIRE 28-years-old of Essa was charged with:

• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Fail to remain

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on September 4, 2025, to answer to the charge. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.
