DRIVER ARRESTED OVER THREE TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT


(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) - Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township.

On July 16, 2025, just after 1:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call advising of a person who had been located at the side of the road laying next to a vehicle. Officers, along with EMS were dispatched to the location on Belmont 7th Line. Upon speaking with the individual, officers determined them to be under the influence of alcohol, and they were arrested. Samples of the accused’s breath were tested and returned readings over three times the legal limit.

Mark AUSTERBERRY (age 39) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 26, 2025.
