(SAUBLE BEACH, ON) - On August 16, 2025, at approximately 7:37 pm, members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere(R.I.D.E.) program at the intersection of Second Avenue North and Third Avenue North in Sauble Beach.

During the initiative, officers encountered a white BMW enter the RIDE check. Following an interaction with the lone driver, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed, narrowly missing a uniformed officer.

Police initiated a follow-up investigation and later located the suspect and vehicle at a nearby residence.

William STANFIELD, 59-years-old, of Sauble Beach, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

 - Flight from Peace Officer

 - Dangerous Operation

 - Resist Peace Officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 11, 2025.
