(COCHRANE, ON) - A Cochrane resident is facing multiple charges after being stopped twice in two days by the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, officers stopped a pickup truck on Sixth Avenue in Cochrane. A roadside breath test was administered using an Approved Screening Device (ASD), and the driver registered a warn-range Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC). As a result, the driver received an immediate 3-day licence suspension.

The following morning, Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 6:45 am, officers stopped a motorcycle that was observed travelling at high speed and generating excessive noise on Third Avenue. The rider was found to be the same individual.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Cochrane resident has been charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operating a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Careless driving
  • Unnecessary noise
  • Driving a motor vehicle with no plates
  • Failing to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Driving without proper rear light - motorcycle

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Provincial Offences Court in Cochrane on September 2, 2025. The motorcycle was impounded for seven days.
