DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING AND DRUG TRAFFICKING AFTER HIGHWAY 17 STOP

(BEAUCAGE TOWNSHIP, ON) - A driver faces impaired driving and drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of North Bay.

On Thursday December 11, 2025, at approximately 2:00 pm, the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in Beaucage Township.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer determined they had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the seizure of two bags of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, and approximately $800 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel AMOS, 62 years-of-age of West Nipissing, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on February 3, 2026. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
