DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED FOLLOWING FAMILY DISPUTE IN TRENT HILLS

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver after responding to a family dispute in Trent Hills.

On December 21, 2025, shortly after 8:30 pm, officers responded to a report on County Road 8 where the complainant advised that a family member had taken a vehicle and struck residential property at the location while impaired.

Police arrived and the individual was not immediately located. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to assist and located the person at a trailer on the property.

The individual was taken into custody and transported to hospital for assessment of minor injuries sustained prior to police arrival.

A 22-year-old male from Hastings has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in February 2026. They shall not be named to protect the identity of the complainant. A further 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
