(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid several charges in recent incidents.
On August 25, 2025, police received a report of an assault at a commercial premises in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The victim, who sustained minor injuries, reported being assaulted by a known individual.
Following an investigation, officers arrested one person on August 27.
A 30-year-old female from Roseneath, has been charged with:
- Assault
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
On August 26, 2025, the OPP received a report of an individual breaching bail conditions by being in the presence of young persons. The Northumberland Crime Unit initiated an investigation, resulting in an arrest on August 28.
A 50-year-old male from the Municipality of Brighton has been charged with:
- Fail to comply with prohibition regarding children
The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the young persons involved.
On August 28, 2025, shortly after 9:00 am, police responded to a report of an unwanted person at a location on Grand Road in the Municipality of Trent Hills. While on scene, officers received a complaint regarding stolen outdoor furniture from a nearby residence. The suspect was identified as the individual involved in both incidents.
As a result, Leroy PARKER (28) of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.
On August 28, 2025, at approximately 9:25 pm, officers on patrol stopped a passenger vehicle for a traffic offence on Toronto Street in the Township of Cramahe. Upon speaking with the driver, police initiated an impaired driving investigation.
The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
Claude BOULANGER (60) from the Township of Cramahe, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September. A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
