DROWNING INCIDENT IN POND AT PROPERTY IN SOUTHGATE TOWNSHIP


(PROTON STATION, ON) - Members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident involving a missing four-year-old who disappeared while swimming in a pond at a private property in Proton Station near Dundalk.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, just after 7:00 pm, emergency services were called to a farm near Southgate Road 26 after the child went missing while swimming with family members.

On the morning of Monday, July 14, 2025, the body of the child was located and recovered by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.

The OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit, and fire and emergency services from Owen Sound, Hanover, and Southgate aided in the search of the property and the pond.
