(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) - Members of the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by officers from the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment, have arrested and charged one individual for drug trafficking offences in the Municipality.

On Friday, August 15, 2025, at approximately 3:30 pm, officers in the area of Millar Crescent, Sioux Lookout, observed an individual known to be in breach of their court-ordered release conditions. The individual was arrested and was found to be in possession of suspected illicit substances.  Police investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and Canadian currency.

Following investigation, Cara TAIT, 33 years old from Sachigo Lake First Nation, has been arrested and charged with the following offences: 

• Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, - Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, and
• Three counts of failure to comply with Release Order

The accused was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice Dryden / Sioux Lookout Bail Court on August 19, 2025.
