(ORANGEVILLE, ON) - Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a youth in relation to a threat made towards a local high school.
On May 23, 2025, just after midnight, officers responded to a report of a social media message threatening the safety and wellbeing at a local high school. With the assistance of the Dufferin County OPP Major Crime Unit, the source was quickly identified, and a youth was placed into police custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 16-year-old of Orangeville was charged with:
- False Information
- Mischief
- breach of Recognizance
The accused is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. The identity of the person will be withheld under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
