(DUFFERIN COUNTY) - Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in Dufferin County over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Between October 10 and October 13, 2025, members of the Dufferin OPP laid a total of 250 traffic-related charges. Officers conducted several R.I.D.E. spot checks and traffic enforcement initiatives, with a focus on the “Big Four” driving behaviours linked to serious injuries and fatalities: impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, and lack of seatbelt use.
Despite our efforts, unfortunately, there was one fatal motor vehicle collision over the long weekend.
The statistics speak for themselves-some drivers are still not getting the message:
- Speeding charges - 147
- Stunt/Racing - 5
- Impaired driving charges - 5
- Seatbelt charges - 3
- Distracted driving - 4
- Other offences - 86
