EFFORTS CONTINUE IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION SAFE APPROACH


(SARNIA, ON) - Numerous traffic stops as part of Operation Safe Approach resulted in charges.

On September 14, 2025, members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted numerous traffic stops involving commercial motor vehicles (CMV) on Highway 402 westbound in Sarnia, leading to the Blue Water Bridge.

At approximately 3:20 pm, a traffic stop was conducted and as a result, a 35-year-old of Mississauga, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with the following offences:

  • Unsafe move - lane or shoulder
  • Fail to ensure daily inspection report is accurately completed

Shortly after 3:45 pm, a traffic stop was conducted and as a result, a 45-year-old of Brampton, was charged under the HTA with the following offences:

  • Fail to properly record duty status changes
  • Unnecessary slow driving

At approximately 4:20 pm, a traffic stop was conducted and as a result, a 30-year-old of Brampton was charged under the HTA with Disobey sign.

At approximately 5:20 pm, a traffic stop was initiated and as a result, a 58-year-old of Brampton was charged under the HTA with Fail to properly record duty status changes.
