FAMILY DISPUTE LEADS TO ASSAULT CHARGES


(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON)- The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an individual after attending a Selwyn address in relation to a family dispute.

On Monday August 25, 2025, just prior to 11:00am, members of the Peterborough County OPP Detachment were dispatched to a call where the complainant indicated their grandparent was attacking them. The caller made their way outside to contact police, but their phone was grabbed and damaged by the grandparent. The caller recovered their phone and police were contacted. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with all parties involved which led to the arrest of one individual.

A 68-year-old male of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused has a future date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
