FAMILY DISPUTE LEADS TO SURETY REVOCATION


(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) - Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after receiving a call from their surety.

On July 9, 2025, just prior to 10:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a threats call at a residence in Peterborough County. The caller advised that their son had made threats to cause physical harm to them.

Officers attended and spoke to the caller who was also currently acting as surety for the accused. The caller stated that they wished to pursue charges and that they no longer wanted to act as a surety. Officers spoke with the accused who was then arrested.

A 38-year-old male was arrested and charged with;

  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Failure to comply with release order

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Peterborough.
