FATAL COLLISION CAUSES HIGHWAY 401 CLOSURE

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) - The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in Elgin County.

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 2:35 am, Elgin County OPP, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Central Elgin Fire and Emergency Services responded to a serious two vehicle collision on eastbound Highway 401 at Iona Road in Dutton.

One individual was transported via ambulance to hospital with life threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased.

Four others were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eastbound Highway 401 is closed from Currie Road to Union Road in Dutton for an undetermined amount of time to allow for investigation.

Elgin County OPP with the assistance West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue to investigate the collision.
