(NORWICH, ON) - A passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle collided in Norwich Township resulting in the death of one individual and serious injuries of another individual.

On July 22, 2025, at approximately 1:10 pm, members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with members of the Brant OPP detachment, Norwich Fire Services, Ornge and Oxford County Paramedic Services responded to a collision at the intersection of Highway 53 and Subway Line in Norwich Township.

A passenger vehicle with two occupants and a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) with two occupants collided in the intersection.

The 58 years-of-age driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The occupants of the CMV were uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing. The Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is on scene assisting with the investigation.

Highway 53 and Subway Line were closed at Towerline Road and Highway 2, for several hours, but have since reopened.
