(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual following a series of incidents on December 31st involving property damage and the theft of a motor vehicle in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

On Wednesday December 31st at 11:41 am, Grey Bruce OPP received a report from a homeowner who discovered that an unknown individual had been inside their garage and had caused damage to a vehicle cover.

While officers were on scene, at approximately 12:29 pm, police received a second report indicating that a white 2013 cargo van had been stolen from a nearby residence.

Officers immediately began patrolling the area and located the stolen vehicle at Main Street and Scotland Street in Grey Highlands. A person was observed in the driver’s seat. When approached, the individual fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers arrested the individual.

Tracey JOHNSTONE 50-year-old of no fixed address was charged with the following criminal code offences:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Theft Over $5,000

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing on January 1, 2025, in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
