(LITTLE CURRENT, ON)  - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene of a serious collision on Highway 6 near Goat Island Road in the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) Township.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, at approximately 6:15 pm, the Manitoulin OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and a transport truck. One driver has sustained serious life-threatening injuries as a result.

Highway 6 is currently closed in both directions between the Little Current Swing Bridge and Sunshine Valley Road near Birch Island. The road is expected to be closed for several hours.

First responders are currently on scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
