HISTORICAL SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION - CHARGES LAID

(EMBRUN, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual in connection with a historical sexual assault investigation.

In September 2025, members of the Russell County OPP launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault involving two victims that are reported to have occurred between 2005 and 2011 in Embrun and nearby communities.

As a result of the investigation, 82-year-old Maurice Lemieux of Embrun Ontario was charged under the criminal code with:

  • Sexual interference - 3 counts
  • Sexual exploitation - 2 counts
  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age - 2 counts
  • Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age

The accused was released by a Justice of the Peace after a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal, Ontario on January 7, 2026.
