(MATHESON, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has located human remains near Bourkes Road south of the Black River-Matheson Township, as part of an ongoing Windsor Police Service (WPS) homicide investigation.

On Friday, October 17, 2025, human remains were located by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Crime Unit, the OPP Emergency Response Team, the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the OPP Canine Unit conducting an evidence search under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch in support of the WPS investigation.

The OPP is advising the public to expect an increased police presence and stay away from the area as the investigation continues.
