HUNTSVILLE O.P.P. TO ASSUME MORE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALGONQUIN PARK


(HUNTSVILLE, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) has re-aligned policing responsibilities within Algonquin Park. The transition will take effect on November 4, 2025.

The Huntsville O.P.P. Detachment will be assuming policing of Algonquin Park east to Lake of Two Rivers while Bancroft O.P.P. will assume responsibility for the remaining (eastern) portion of the park.

They can also assist by using the on-line reporting options at OPP.ca for the following types of occurrences:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Mischief / Damage to Property Under $5,000
  • Mischief / Damage to Vehicle Under $5,000
  • Theft from Vehicle Under $5,000
  • Lost / Missing Property Under $5,000 including a licence platees
  • Theft of any type of gasoline from a gas station
  • Driving Complaints (other than suspected impaired driving)

The O.P.P. has always patrolled Algonquin Park and continually evaluates its operations to identify efficiencies that enhance public safety in the communities it serves. We look forward to continuing to provide policing services to Algonquin Park staff and visitors.
