(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON)  - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a motorist following a collision.

On September 17, 2025, at around 5:25 pm, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Oak Ridges Drive and County Road 28 in the Township of Hamilton.

The Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also attended for non-serious injuries. Through investigation and speaking with one of the drivers involved, police began an impaired operation investigation which resulted in the individual being taken into custody and transferred to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Jessica HOWDEN (31), from the Township of Cavan Monaghan, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Careless driving
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
