IMPAIRED CHARGES ON HIGHWAY 11
(DRIFTWOOD, ON) - A proactive traffic stop by the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Highway 11 resulted in impaired driving charges against a Hearst resident.
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, at approximately 12:00 pm, a James Bay OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling eastbound in Calder Township at a significantly reduced speed of 45 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. The vehicle was also failing to maintain its lane position.
Police initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance. The individual was arrested and transported to the Cochrane OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Manpreet KAUR, 28 years-of-age from Hearst, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
- Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle
- Unnecessary slow driving
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on November 4, 2025. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
