(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after receiving a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle.

On Friday October 10, 2025 at approximately 9:18 pm, officers were notified of a traffic complainant for a vehicle near Cambray. Officers located the motor vehicle and began an impaired driving investigation. The driver assaulted the officer during the arrest for impaired driving. The officer was not seriously injured during the assault.

Elaine West, 46-year-old of Fenelon Township, was charged with:

• Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and drugs
• Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
• Resist Peace Officer
• Assault
• Assault with a Weapon

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
