IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES AT HIGHWAY 17 COLLISION
(NIPISSING FIRST NATION, ON) - A driver has been charged following a serious collision on Highway 17.
On November 29, 2025, at approximately 12:00 pm, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Nipissing First Nation.
Investigation revealed that a passenger vehicle was travelling westbound in the eastbound lane when it collided mirrors with another vehicle. The westbound vehicle continued leaving the roadway and striking a rock cut.
The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance. The highway was closed for approximately one hour.
As a result of the investigation, Katherine BRAZEAU, 45 years-of-age of Garden Village, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
- Take motor vehicle without consent
- Fail to properly wear seatbelt
- Driving while under suspension - two counts
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 6, 2026. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS).
