IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID AFTER POLICE INVESTIGATE A MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(MARKSTAY-WARREN, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver with impaired operation after investigating a motor vehicle collision.

On Saturday December 28, 2025, at approximately 6:50 am, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, responded to a single motor vehicle collision on North Road, Markstay-Warren.

No injuries were reported, but the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Sydney ABELOVSKY, 27 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with, operation while impaired - alcohol and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 4, 2026, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
