IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID IN PICTON


(PICTON, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired-driving investigation.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at around 10:45 pm, officers from the OPP Prince Edward County Detachment responded to a report of a possible impaired driver leaving an establishment on Picton Main Street. 

Officers located the motorist, and the individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing.

Stephen STAINES, age 31 of Wellington, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on November 12, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
